Just south of Mexico City lies Tepoztlán, a town with a mythical history that sits at the base of a mountain surrounded by jungle and soaring cliff faces. Here, local firm Cadaval & Solà-Morales, has designed the ‘MA Lounge’, a pool house that lets the outside in.
Built as an addition to the ‘MA House’, which was designed by the architects in 2017, the ‘MA Lounge’ is intended to complete the home. “Despite working with the same language and materials”, the architects explain, “the project seeks to create a world of its own”. Overlooking the pool, the triangular stone building houses a semi-enclosed patio, a washroom, and a central courtyard where “the vegetation…is conquering” the space, spilling out towards the sky.
