Photographer and illustrator Felipe Bedoya lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia. His series ‘Walkers’ explores different representations of beach vendors based in Cartagena.

Throughout his practice, Bedoya combines his love for photography and illustration. This materialises as mixed media projects, which infuse elements of documentary photography with fine art experimentation. ‘Los Caminantes’ (or ‘the walkers’) is the name Bedoya gives to the vendors who roam the beaches in the Colombian port town of Cartagena, selling their wares of food, drinks and inflatable toys. For this series, the artist has blended photography with actual sand collected from the region, constructing miniature scenes of seaside interactions, both from a bird’s eye perspective and as repeat image studies of characters relaxing, playing and selling their goods by the sea.
