Designed by architect David Cervera, El Palmar is a summer house located in the Yucatán peninsula of southeastern Mexico.

The project was constructed on a 90 square meter plot of land by the Port of Chuburna. Situated around other buildings used mostly as holiday retreats, El Palmar is a modest build that comprises three main intersecting spaces. Cervera has incorporated a bedroom, kitchen, living area, bathroom and swimming pool, presenting a space that offers a Mexican retreat into more simplistic living. The building is spotted with hammocks in shaded areas, as well as traditional mosaic detailing that adds a decorative touch to the predominantly white walls. Obtained from the roots of a tree, the finish used on the walls is Chukum, a material with a waterproof quality that does not need to be painted. Instead, El Palmar appears as a minimalist summer retreat, nestled between palm trees that have been left exactly as they were found.
