Designed by Spanish architect’s office FLORES taller de arquitectura, the renovation of txoko, a gastronomic society in the Basque country in Bilbao, Spain, caused a problem of space so the designers had to come up with an extraordinary way to store additional chairs. A unique pair of complementary chairs were designed that can be stacked on top of each other forming a shape that can neatly be stored away in a custom designed wall. The floor plan includes an industrial kitchen, a bathroom and a common room, so all 32 members of txoko have the possibility to eat or watch movies together. If less members visit txoko, the chairs can be stored within the wall, creating an artistic backdrop. The use of materials were selected to highlight the furniture’s oak wood that contrasts with the black storage wall.
