The Mundane Meets The Magic In Jaime Pitarch’s Art

Words

Spanish artist Jaime Pitarch transforms unassuming objects into an array of inventive sculptures, challenging us to question our relationship with the everyday items we surround ourselves with. Starting with items such as chairs, plates, glasses or Russian dolls, Pitarch reforms his materials into works of art laced devoid of function and laced with humor. The Barcelona-based artist takes a philosophical view on his artistic practice, describing it to have to do “with humans’ inability to identify with the structures they themselves have created.” In addition to sculptures, the artist’s portfolio includes drawings, installations and video work.
