The Personal Driver By Fred Erik

“It won’t be long before cars become self-driving. The time that we spend behind the steering wheel now can then be used for other activities, and sharing cars will outscore owning them. As the discussion about the future focuses on technology, Frederik Deschuytter explores the design impact of it all. His trend forecast suggests a drastic change, turning the car into a driving chameleon. Imagine sleeping en route in a safe cocoon-like vessel, or concentrating on work in a mobile of ce. And wouldn’t it be nice to be relieved of the desire to express ourselves through the appearance of our car? Deschuytter presents a neutral shape made from mirrored material, showcasing the surroundings instead of the vehicle. The project is currently part of the 2016 graduation show organized by Design Academy Eindhoven during Dutch Design week.”
