Sarah Lucas Shows The Power In Woman

Scroll

Renowned British artist Sarah Lucas’s latest exhibition explores the suggestive power of the female figure in a play on the traditional female reclining nude.

Working with her three muses, Patricia, Michele and Yoko, to create plaster casts of a variety of poses, from the demure to the provocative, amidst bright yellow walls and classical furniture in Sir John Soane’s Museum. Speaking of her view on the exhibition, which runs until May 21, 2016, Lucas states, “I don’t think any of the pieces are that shocking. Things, other images, people see everyday are far more explicit. I find the thing that makes it shocking is people’s own self-consciousness.”
