Fertilizer by Mark Harless
- Caroline Kurze
Photographer Mark Harless is looking for visually interesting concepts to develop his unique imagery. For the series ‘Fertilizer’, he put people in plastic bags, placing them in untouched landscapes.
At first he was just searching for ‘a reason to put naked people in plastic bags’, as he tell us. Though when looking at the resulting images, he intentionally thought of life and death and how it is all just part of a cycle that we can’t control. Harless states: “After we die our bodies will decompose and the plants and animals will feed off of us in the same fashion a bag of fertilizer would.”
