Broken Botany

Words

Lisa Sorigini is a photographer living in Melbourne, Australia. Her work resembles an ongoing dialogue with narrative and documentary style photography combined with an endless fascination with the contingent beauty of unrehearsed moments.

The series Broken Botany was captured in a day during a visit to a large nursery on the outskirts of Melbourne after a severe windstorm. Lisa was interested in the chaotic appearance and the visual fragility of these plants after such weather. Combined with the fact that they exist in the confines of the man made environment, appearing out of context, these images create a scene of beautiful disarray.
