Ice House

Words

The architecture office Minarc -a wordplay on minimalism in architecture- is based in Los Angeles though the two architects Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir and Tryggvi Thorsteinsson are originally from Island. They specialize in modern, innovative and sustainable design while being inspired by the pure and austere beauty of their home country.

Their ‘Ice House’ is built in a little town in Iceland and establishes a serene family sanctuary that harmoniously connects the inhabitants with the surrounding nature. Using natural light, outdoor living spaces and framed views of nature, they try to blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Committed to the preservation of the beautiful natural scenery they only use eco-friendly materials and efficient technology to seamlessly connect with nature.
