Swedish designer Johan Kauppi, of Kauppi & Kauppi, has designed a green screen for potted plants that features integrated lighting: allowing even the darkest corner to become a verdant oasis.

Kauppi & Kauppi teamed up with Glimkara for this thoroughly Swedish affair: a minimal, light wood frame for your plants — the Limbus GreenFrame. For those living in northern Europe, with minimal hours of sunlight even plants sitting at the window suffer from lack of sunshine. This illuminated frame solves the problem. As the studio explains: “In Scandinavia, with fewer hours of daylight during the dark half of the year, light support is often needed when overwintering potted plants.” The practicality of the GreenFrame extends keeping your houseplants alive, the frame also acts as a divider, offers a unique way to separate areas of the home or office. Johan’s development of the structure came through an investigation of the function and necessary elements of a floor screen: “I wanted to investigate how much a floor screen could be simplified.” He explains. “When everything except the naked elegant wood frame was reduced, I became interested in seeing what it could be filled with. I often long for the forest and have a beautiful Norfolk pine next to my desk, always making me happy. Perhaps my plants could fit in the frame? And to make plants grow and prosper, light is needed.”
