Anne-Sophie Soudoplatoff Explores The Power Of Light

With a title not dissimilar to that of Shakespeare play set beneath the moon, the latest series from Parisian photographer Anne-Sophie Soudoplatoff plays with ideas of the nocturnal and the illuminative power of light.

In A Midsummer’s Dreamshe wrestles with different lights elegantly, from bodies shifting in and out of water, to landscapes dipped in darkness. For Soudoplatoff, sun and moonlight each have revelatory powers — unveiling the truest parts of people and of places. When editing the series, she drew out latent elements of each image, juxtaposing them to create a narrative that extends beyond the frame of her photographs.
