In ‘Silentia’ Greek photographer Petros Koublis visually reflects on the miracle of the infinite universe and its parallels to the nature of humankind.
In this photographic series, boundless misty landscapes with a pale blue color palette are combined with images of full moons and living creatures. These images sit alongside black and white astrophotographs that were taken over a period of four years,
predominantly in locations around Greece. There is an observable silence to the images in this project, evident also in the series’ title. The other-worldly concept deals with the origins of the universe, cosmic matter and human existence; complex themes that form the foundation of Koublis’ body of work. “Our world is celestial, sharing the same origin with the space that embraces our skies,” he explains. “There is something inside of us that is always connected with the quietude of this vastness. The mind merges with the vastness of the Universe and for a moment there is no space or time, only the wonder of existence.”All images © Petros Koublis
