Sweden born and Helsinki based artist Yrjö Edelmann paints reality. Seeing his three-dimensional, trompe l’oeil pictures of messily wrapped packages, makes you want to touch immediately to improve.
Edelmann’s career started uncommonly, working as an illustrator at a publishing house until he decided to become an artist. He got trained by Pop-Art painter James Rosenquist. Rosenquist inspired him to stick to one distinctive style, the three-dimensional, that Edelmann uncomprisingly follows since the 70ies. Edelmann is represented by Craighead Green Gallery, Dallas and Scott Richards Contemporary Art, San Francisco.
