Surrounded by dunes, meadow and peace, the Dutch town Schoorl is one of the last such authentic landscapes in Netherlands. There, at the end of a lovely avenue planted with trees, architects from Studio Prototype found a location for their project of a modernised living farm.

Villa Schoorl is divided into different volumes, pieced together like a puzzle. The client, a photographer by profession, needed a space with different levels of privacy. Hence, depending on their different functions, the villa’s parts are designed in either an open or closed way, creating a modern space for both work and family life.

“The objects of the house play a game with the surface of the main mass of the house.” “The objects of the house play a game with the surface of the main mass of the house. This results into an impressive game of volume and structure, which comes out of the back into the main volume in a special manner.”
