London-based product designer Oscar Lhermitte collaborated with technology-led design studio Kudu to launch the world’s first topographically accurate lunar globe on Kickstarter.
Combining design, technology, art and science over the course of four years, the project – aptly titled MOON – draws upon the data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to create a 1/20 million replica of the Moon, with every known surface feature captured in detail. The moon is illuminated by a revolving ring of LED lights that recreate lunar cycles as seen from earth. For more information, and to support the Kickstarter project here.
