Abstract Human Body Sculptures By Antony Gormley

British artist Antony Gormley creates life-sized sculptures in the shape of human bodies since the early 1980s. Best known for his large-scale artworks ‘Angel of the North‘, ‘Field for the British Isles‘ as well as ‘Quantum Cloud‘, Gormley works with various materials, such as steel and iron, to form the figures’ abstract shapes. In an artist’s statement, the sculptor says about his work: “My work is to make bodies into vessels that both contain and occupy space. Space exists outside the door and inside the head. My work is to make human space in space.”
