Polaris by Acacia Johnson

Words

‘Polaris’ is a continuation of Acacia Johnson’s exploration of Nordic nature that started with ‘Aialik’ which we featured before here.

In this ongoing series, Acacia travels the deserted areas of Alaska and Iceland by foot and presents a landscape dominated by strong contrasts and fleeting elements. It’s a reflection upon the combination of wonder, fear and respect that nature can invoke in its inhabitants. “Polaris, the North Star, functions as a metaphor for the constancy of magic that I perceive in an environment that is otherwise in constant flux.”
