Human contact is losing its significance. Pushed back into the background, this marginalization is the focus of Petra Pálházis series. The very essence of virtual reality runs so deeply through our lives, that even basic human interaction has been replaced by this technological marvel. Although one cannot deny the existence of numerous types of communication, an alienation on a personal level is taking place. “In my work, it is these things that I wish to reflect upon. In this reflection I wish to erect a sense of utopia, one which will run through my work, and use this as a reminder for the future generation. The statues symbolize physical contact, and will potentially even bear witness to humanity’s decent into estrangement. I have placed the sculptures into a serene, natural environment, thereby evoking a feeling of harmony and a slowing down of time.”
