Lava By Luca Galavotti

Lanzarote, part of the Canary Islands archipelago, with its volcanic origins geology, take us ideally on the gaunt and ferrous surface of an unknown rocky planet. Fields of petrified lava, which have been carved and modified over the centuries, harmonies of red, ocher and brown stratifications; asphalt tongues that blend in with the dark ground, fast clouds that project their shadow on the headlands, enriching them with soft shades. Luca Galavotti focused his camera on colors and geometries of this ‘Martian’ landscape, trying to revelate its primal poetry, peaceful serenity and timeless balance in his series ‘Lava’. A clean, essential vision with two absolute protagonists: shapes and colors. A meditative landscape that becomes an inner landscape.
