Lanscape Sampling By Cyril Sancereau
The photographic work of Cyril Sancereau tries to document the impermanence and fragility of the landscape. Sancereau focuses his attention on fragments of the territory, where the transition and the in-between are revealed. By deliberately choosing to distance himself from the photo essay on a specific place he keeps from his strolls only traces of the fragile and the ephemeral. While creating his work in the footsteps of “artists walkers” and photographers-surveyors, he nevertheless privileges the notions of wandering and loss of orientation. His images attempt to express the deep sensory and physical transformations that walking brings. The experience of the journey travelled exacerbates perception and receptivity to the landscape.
