It’s Like Fishing By Daniël Siegersma

The project ‘It’s like fishing’ by Daniël Siegersma documents Pigeon enthusiasts and the thrill of their passion. From people who are actively involved in the pigeon sports to retired pigeon lovers or simply people who like to paint pigeons as a hobby. The duality between captivity and freedom. Cherishing the pigeons in their tiny cage and allowing them to fly into the open. Waiting for them to come back. “It’s like you’re fishing with just a branch and some thread. You expect to catch some little fish, but instead you catch a very big one. Then it’s the fight to reel it in. Once you have it, you feel the shivers on your back. You won. You fish long enough until you catch something, not knowing the size of what you’re going to take home.”
