Swedish designer Sanna Völker describes her practice as a quest “for equilibrium between rawness and refinement”; a design ethos that is particularly evident in her handcrafted stone candle holder ‘Snug’.

A contradictory pairing of rough and polished stone, the ‘Snug Candle Holder’ toys with textural contrast as its various iterations—cut from marble, travertine and limestone respectively—each reveal their unique interiors alongside their highly-finished exteriors. The candle holder has space for two tall candlesticks and was developed by Völker’s studio with the Granits Barbany, the artisan stonemason responsible for the sculptures in Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
