Cohesion Studio’s Cabins Let You Sleep Beneath The Stars In Joshua Tree

The two structures—one reconstructed from a home built in 1954, and one new—stand overlooking the red earth and mountains of the desert. The properties sit separated by a wooden deck fit with an outdoor plunge bath made from a galvanized metal tank, most commonly used elsewhere to water livestock. Here, visitors can spend their time soaking up the vast desert plains, whilst protected from view by a collection of neatly configured boulders.

Inside the larger building, the ground floor houses an open plan living and kitchen area, and a bathroom with separate toilet. A custom-made black steel ladder crafted from pipes takes you from the lounge space to the loft, which is fit with a bed and a skylight for stargazing. However, those who wish to witness the desert’s night sky in full glory should sleep in the smaller hut. Here, the bedroom is sans ceiling, offering expansive views of the mountains, the desert, and the endless sky from the comfort of a heated bed.
