Drill Design Reimagined The Windsor Chair

Words

Japanese studio Drill Design reinvented the classic Windsor chair for a new generation. Named “Offset“, the chair design consists of two different colored frame parts – one wood, the other black – which mutually support each other. The seat’s central rings were created through an advanced Japanese wood bending technique. Identical in diameter, they allow the chair to be stacked, unlike the original version. In addition to the Windsor chair back, Drill redesigned a classic Chinese back option, based on the design of a Ming chair.
