It all comes down to that striking idea of this man, tethered to a metallic blue balloon, and his nostalgic journey to significant places and sweet memories of life, in a last walk and a farewell to the city. The balloon works as a metaphor for death and in the end takes the old man to the sky, fulfilling its promise of carrying us all away.
