Stunning Mirror Installations By Shirin Abedinirad

Words

Visual artist Shirin Abedinirad creates stunning mirror installations while traveling the world. Whether she places mirrors on the steps of a staircase in Treviso, Italy, or in the middle of the Central Desert in Iran, her projects look like the sky is touching the earth. Her latest installation ‘Mirrored Ziggurat‘ in Sydney explores the link between nature and human beings. The Tehran-based artist was inspired by the Tachara Palace in Persepolis, Persia, one of the first places where mirrors were used in architecture.

In a statement, the artist says: “For me, mirrors amplify this paradise, giving light; an important mystical concept in Persian Culture, and a medium creating an optical illusion.”
