Villa Kanousan by Yuusuke Karasawa

Words

This seemingly ordinary cubical house situated on a humble hillside of Honshu Island in Japan reveals a quite unusual interior. Yuusuke Karasawa architects designed this small two-story weekend house with the theme of ‘cubic voids,’ cutting out geometric shapes of the walls at different angles and sizes.

The regular arrangement of rooms are enhanced with geometric intricacies that add visual interest to the space and strong connections between the rooms. Re-defining privacy, the residents can see one another regardless of which room or floor they occupy.
