Top Breakfast Basics


No matter how little I slept the night before I am always up for breakfast. I just love to be in this sleepy mood, to carry the warmth of the bed with me and to treat myself with a slow, cozy morning ritual. There is nothing better than the smell of freshly brewed coffee, a warm pretzel with butter and lots of time to start into the day.

I know that not everybody agrees though you should and with our breakfast basics you’ll be equipped with everything you need to become a breakfast devotee. You’ll see.

3. Cereal Magazine

The quarterly published magazine Cereal contains detailed expositions of edible topics, travel destinations, as well as profiles on products, people and places – chosen because they’re relevant, interesting, or have simply caught their attention. With the goal of making something timeless, by crafting and curating a tactile experience, Cereal, like a good book, can be read over and over again. It is definitely our favorite morning read; a a visual feast.

4. Bordfolk

Adorning breakfast tables in the 60s and 70s, Lucie Kaas has reintroduced and updated these Danish designed egg holders called Bordfolk (‘Table People’ in Danish). These little characters with their simple design and clear colors call to the child in us.

5. alpenweit ‘Jausenbrettl mit Messer’

This massive wooden board comes with an integrated knife, both is produced in Tirol, made by local craftsman. It comes in handy when cutting your favorite breakfast ingredients such as fresh fruit, tomatoes or hand-picked herbs. The board is made of ahs, the knife is stainless steel. Ashley Percival is a freelance Illustrator from the UK. 7. Fred and Friends Half Pint Creamer

Need milk in your morning coffee? This artfully blown and molded glass creamer captures the comforting familiarity of a mini milk carton, just like the ones Mrs. Fontaine used to pass out in the school cafeteria.

8. Breakfast Express

The Breakfast Express is not only suitable for kids, it cheers up every rainy sunday morning, providing you with an egg cup, toast rack and salt cellar. However, each ‘carriage’ can also be linked together by hidden magnets, allowing breakfast to be wheeled across the table. The fine bone china pieces are crafted in Stafforshire, and finished off at the company’s studio.
