Japanese design studio Nendo has created a sleek set of cutlery titled ‘Skeleton’. Each piece features a kink that enables it to hook onto the side of bowls, plates, cups, and hangers.

When tasked with the challenge of designing a unique shape of cutlery, the design studio has demonstrated their creativity in the collection’s form. There are four items: a spoon, fork, knife, and teaspoon, and a dedicated stand and wall hook to keep the set on display when not in use. The cutlery set is physical vapor deposition (PVD) coated in four different colours—silver, black, copper and gold—to provide an anti-scratch and dirt-repellent surface. “The cutlery has been reduced to the absolute minimum”, explain the designers, which limits the amount of material used whilst still retaining its functionality. “Left remaining is the outline of the cutlery”, they continue, “Like the image of a skeleton reflected in an X-ray”. The project was created for Belgian furniture and homewares brand Valerie Objects. To read more about the imaginative designs of Nendo, click here.
