Spanish-born, Ohio-raised, New York-based photographer Amanda Jasnowski Pascual’s website reads “Be good, try hard, and have fun” — and her work certainly pertains to this sentiment.
Amanda’s work flits between fashion and documentary, her photographs typically utilizing bold lines and colors against the softness of nature. Ever playful, her work seems intent on reimagining traditional photographic styles through absence and replacement — faces disappear behind paper or are half caught in fabric. Her subjects are not just models, but designers, family members — anyone she finds interesting. Amanda is part of a generation of photographers whose fame was significantly bolstered by Instagram (you can follow her here), she made the move from Ohio to Brooklyn at just 20 to launch her career in photography thanks to her skill, and the followers it had helped her amass.
