Sun Yuan And Peng Yu Create A Hyperreal Human Sculpture

Words

Chinese artist duo Sun Yuan and Peng Yu created ‘Angel’, a hyperreal angel sculpture made from fiberglass, stainless steel and woven mesh. By having the mythical creature in an everyday location, the artists seem to be exploring how imagined subjects influence daily life. The piece, which was originally created in 2008, recently ignited a series of online rumors after it was installed in Beijing last week. The creative pair have previously made headlines for using controversial materials such as human fat tissue and real cadavers in their works.
