Addie Wagenknecht

Words

We are quite impressed by Addie Wagenknecht’s artistic approach. Her work deals with pop culture, feminist theory, new media and open source software and hardware, while her pieces always have a very close connection to her inner life.

As for example when she worked on ‘Optimization of Parenting’ that features a stern industrial robot to rock a baby cradle, she was pregnant herself, examining the false sense of balance between parenting and career in America. About her artwork ‘Anonymity’ that consists of a censorship black bar she says: ‘Anonymity as a concept is addictive – especially when you’re living in a major metropolitan city like New York. I think we are reaching a point if we haven’t already where anonymity is imperative to creativity.’ Click here to hear more about her ideas.
