We are quite impressed by Addie Wagenknecht’s artistic approach. Her work deals with pop culture, feminist theory, new media and open source software and hardware, while her pieces always have a very close connection to her inner life. As for example when she worked on ‘Optimization of Parenting’ that features a stern industrial robot to rock a baby cradle, she was pregnant herself, examining the false sense of balance between parenting and career in America. About her artwork ‘Anonymity’ that consists of a censorship black bar she says: ‘Anonymity as a concept is addictive – especially when you’re living in a major metropolitan city like New York. I think we are reaching a point if we haven’t already where anonymity is imperative to creativity.’ Click here to hear more about her ideas.
