Italian artist Olivio Barbieri, who is known for his breathtaking aerial photography – captured holiday makers on the Adriatic coastline from above, shooting in a helicopter.
The small dancing bodies appear in a range of formation in the glistening blue sea, the color of which was enhanced to match the memory of summer days at the beach. Having meticulously staged the series, Barbieri also shows the shots with the people removed, highlighting the choreography involved in the project. Speaking of the coastal resorts of the Adriatic sea, he says “places where folk dance are extremely popular and historically regarded by old and new generations, and big disco clubs stand like cathedrals in the desert.”
