Exhibited at The Kinfolk Gallery in Copenhagen, ‘Close Contact’ is a collection of photographs that explore the physicality and symbolism of the sphere. Captured by Norm Architects co-founder Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and under the creative direction of Kinfolk co-founder Nathan Williams, the images depict close interactions between human skin and sculptural leather spheres created by Sørensen Leather. The series evokes a conceptual meditation on the spherical form, which reminisces the Earth, our eyes and our origins. Evolving in deep chiaroscuro lighting, the material conversations in ‘Close Contact’ arise as careful considerations of the interdependence of two forms. As explained by Bjerre-Poulsen, “The images highlight the contrasts and connections between geometric and anthropomorphic shapes, the latter referring to the Greek words anthropos and morphe meaning human form. Elements fundamental to our design process.”
