Diane Deschenaux’s series titled 0.65 explores Switzerland’s farming industry that is currently undergoing an economical crisis due to milk overproduction. Shot in the Fribourg mountains, Diane created diptychs of her images to showcase visual contrasts and connections between the mechanical processes of industry and the wildness of the animals. Growing up in a rural environment, the photographer always had an idealised vision of farms. The milk crisis was an opportunity for her to go behind the scenes of the endangered farms, acquiring a realistic understanding of the countryside realty. To display the project, 0.65 reveals a contemporary portrait of the farms in Switzerland. “I chose to give more aestheticism to this subject which is not glamorous at all”, Diane concludes.
