Layered Glass Sculptures By Ben Young

Words

Sydney-based artist Ben Young creates wave sculptures made of layered glass. We’ve featured Young’s works before and his latest pieces again seem to be inspired by the artist’s New Zealand origins and the feeling of being surrounded by water. Layer by layer, the pieces, that are partly formed with concrete, are handmade by Young. Speaking of the process behind the artworks, he says: “I love watching the two-dimensional shapes evolve into three-dimensional creations and the different way the light plays inside the glass. I love the liquid qualities the glass brings with it. It enables me to play with lighting and watch the glass react.”
