The Fonte Boa House By João Mendes Ribeiro

Words

On a small estate nestled into Portugal’s Rabaçal Valley, architects João Mendes Ribeiro designed the Fonte Boa house, a minimal residence that perfectly complements its sloping olive grove surroundings. Comprising a concrete wine cellar topped by two storeys covered in white render, the two-tone house features large windows that provide a sweeping view over the grove and accompanying vineyard. According to Ribeiro, “the interior spaces have a particular relationship with the outside, through a set of big openings or small windows that intensify, in different ways, the connection that the house establishes with the landscape.”
