A Narrow 1.8 Meter-Wide House In Japan By YUUA

Words

The architects behind YUUA designed a minimal house with a width of 1.8 meters. Located in a residential area in Toshima, Japan, the vertical dimensions of the home can be seen as a typical ‘eels’ bed’, which means that it’s so narrow that one can reach the opposite walls by spreading out the arms. Described as an “aggregation of small places”, the building has floating floors that allow for sufficient space. The huge facade enables both light and air to circulate throughout the building. According to the architects, the motto for the design was: “A house with playfulness where people and cats live happily”.
