Tension by Nir Arieli

Words

Nir Arieli’s work ‘tension’ is a stunning series of dancers. Capturing their movements in several pictures, the New York based photographer pieces them to one single image by layering the different photographs.

Searching for intriguing combinations he lets the viewer contemplate the various movements and newly formed abstractions, that the human eye can not normally see. He sees himself more as a visual choreographer and has found himself actively involved in dancing for the first time, since he isn’t much of a dancer, as he tells us. By more or less using the dancers bodies he creates a unique language of movement that is the outcome of a verbal dialogue between the photographed dancer and him.
