Lightbulbs In The Shape Of Skyscrapers By David Graas

Words

Designer David Graas creates lightbulbs in the shape of cityscapes for his series ‘Stalaclights‘. Using a 3D printer, the shapes feature an intricate design inspired by buildings in metropolises such as New York City and Chicago. On the concept behind the LED lights, Graas says: “Nowadays every major city is dominated by high rise buildings. Their height is steadily increasing in time, fuelled by the desire of their builders to realize the highest building in the world. If you would imagine these cities turned upside down, it would look just like stalactites growing from the ceiling of a limestone cave. Steadily growing in time with every drop of ground water seeping through the cave’s roof.”
