10. THE NEST


Aiming at the goal of creating a building that is almost completely renewable a group of Architects called STUDIO 1984 designed and built Nest. By almost exclusively using renewable and locally grown materials as well as adapting to the characteristics of vernacular architecture and landscape, STUDIO 1984 managed to rediscover and reinterpret the relationship between sustainable and rural architecture.

9. LE NICHOIR


Industrial designer Matali Crasset created a hut that is basically an ecological Hotel room offering basic and embryonic comfort. The lightweight structure has been built without being grounded completely, so it can be moved around the forest without harming nature upsetting the ecosystem.

8. PORTABLE MINIMOD


MAPA Architects created MINIMOD which lets the client adapt the space to his needs, choosing among different finishes, as well as automation options. The modules are 100% prefabricated and elevated to a determined place by truck or disassembled into smaller pieces and taken to the ground for final assembly.

7. PERMANENT CAMPING


Conceived as a retreat for one or two people, this building by Casey Brown Architecture has a minimal 3x3m footprint providing shelter. When not in use, the roofs close down to completely enclose the timber and glass interior protecting it from the elements in particular bush fires.

6. GARDEN SHED


Garden shed by Ville Hara and Linda Bergroth is a unique prefabricated garden shed that combines a green house with storage space and comes in ready made elements that can be assembled by simply using a screwdriver.

5. LE TRONC CREUX DU FRIGO


‘The Tronc Creux’ by Bruit du Frigo is part of a series of shelters spread around Bordeaux. It provides enough space to sleep for 9 people. Reconnecting to a simple life, there are no lights and no water, just family and friends in a peaceful setting.

4. PORTABLE HOME BY ÁBATON


This 27 sqm portable home is sectional and for immediate placement. It was developed as a series, a dwelling ideal for 2 people, easily transported by road and ready to be placed almost anywhere.

3. HOUSE UFOGEL IN AUSTRIA


This Austrian house Ufogel is a fully-furnished and functional home set on a hillside overlooking some of the best mountain views in the area. The house blends the comforts of a traditional house with the futurism of contemporary design. Windows, both small and large, provide light to every part of the building without sacrificing personal privacy, a consideration that’s often missed in the design of compact houses.

2. PORT-A-BACH


Atelierworkshop Architects created the Port-a-Bach container home. The up-cycling containers can be an effective answer for large scale projects if portability, site access, robustness and security are required. They also developed prototypes that use the existing container connections to attached solar and wind equipment.

1.BLOB VB3 MOBILE HOME


dmvA created a mobile home called Blob VB3, inspired by the idyllic location of the building plot nearby a lake surrounded by spruce-firs. The organic form of the home hosts an office, a bedroom and a sanitary unit. The mobile unit can be use as an office, a guestroom, a reception, a garden-house, or whatever you want to.
